Berlin Summer Bike Tour Schlechtensee (3) (2)

Berlin in the summer is a completely different city — buzzing with life, yet full of hidden green escapes just a short ride away. On a recent ride, I decided to revisit Schlachtensee, one of the city’s most beloved lakes, and capture the experience in a peaceful bike tour video. 🎥

If you’re looking for nature, water, and a perfect mix of shade and sunshine, this ride is for you.

🗺️ What is Schlachtensee?

Located in the southwest of Berlin near Zehlendorf, Schlachtensee is a crystal-clear lake surrounded by forest trails. It’s part of the Grunewald forest area and offers 8 km of bike- and foot-friendly paths, picnic spots, and swimming access points.

In summer, it’s a favorite for locals looking to swim, sunbathe, jog, or cycle in a peaceful environment — without leaving the city.

🚲 The Bike Ride Experience

The journey begins with forest trails lined by tall pines, gradually revealing the calm waters of the lake. Along the way, you’ll see:

  • Locals relaxing on the shoreline, reading, sunbathing, or just enjoying the breeze.
  • Wildlife and nature sounds — captured with ambient audio and no background music.
  • Shaded paths and lakeside views, perfect for a calm and refreshing ride.

I filmed the entire experience using a GoPro Hero 13, stabilized and optimized for 4K, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the scenery — no narration, no distraction.
